The Grenadines are made up of a cluster of islands belonging to St Vincent. To maximise your sailing holiday onboard Pacific Wave and enjoy more time exploring these beautiful islands, it is better to take an island hopper flight to Bequia, Union Island or Mustique where you can join Pacific Wave. This way you can enjoy 7 days of cruising these lovely islands and eliminate the long 6–8 hour sail from Grenada.
You can enjoy cruising Bequia, Mustique, Union Island, the famous Tobago Cays, Mayreau and Petite St Vincent and Palm Island.
Each island is completely different and Tobago Cays is uninhabited. Here you can swim with turtles in seas that have travelled 2,500 miles from Africa, and only the reef separates you and the Atlantic Ocean.
Mustique is renowned for the rich and famous that own villas on this tiny private island. Enjoy lunch ashore at the Cotton House and you may be lucky to be joined by Guinness, Mick Jagger’s dog. The famous nightspot is Basils Bar that overlooks the anchorage where Pacific Wave will be moored. Basil’s is famous for impromptu parties when famous musicians pop in for the evening. Mick Jagger, Robbie Williams & the late David Bowie own villas on this manicured island. The best way to see the whole island is to hire a Mule, a motorised Golf Cart, that you can drive around the island and explore the beautiful less accessible beaches and view the luxury villas.
Bequia has a turtle sanctuary you can visit by local taxi. We can arrange this for you during a crewed charter yacht vacation in the Grenadines. Old Hegg Turtle Sanctuary has been helping Hawksbill Turtles for nearly 30 years. The island is also blessed with magnificent white sandy beaches. Pacific Wave will anchor off the stunning Princess Margaret Beach, named after the Queen of England’s late sister, who used to visit this beach when holidaying on the neighboring island of Mustique. You can stroll down the main high street in Port Elizabeth a small single lane track that has beachfront on one side and shops and vegetable stalls on the other side. Eventually, you will come to the fish and vegetable market where local traders gather to sell their produce.
Union Island – visit Janti’s Happy Island built by the ex Minister of Tourism who wanted to clean up Clifton Harbour that was littered with empty conch shells. Jonti took them offshore onto the reef and started to pile them up, until he had his own island where he serves his famous rum punch. Chatham Bay on Union Island is a lovely crescent-shaped beach with a few local beach bars where you can enjoy a sunset beer or cocktail.
